Dog Carriers – Now You Can Take Your Pet With You When You Travel
Dog owners know how very important dog carriers really are. When you own a dog, especially in this day and age, you typically want to take the little guy – or girl – with you everywhere you go. He is a part of the family. He belongs on vacations and things just as much as you do. If you feel this way but have not ever used a dog carrier before, then you might be wondering how, exactly, to pick one. One thing you can do is just keep on reading!
After all, there are so many different types of carriers for so many different types of travel. You will need something different when you are traveling on an airplane than you will need when you are traveling by car. Then, too, you may need something entirely different if you are traveling on a train.
Whenever you are picking out a dog carrier, you also need to take into consideration the size of your dog. You want to make sure that there is enough room for your dog to move around but you do not want too much room in there. If you have a small dog, you can almost get away with a carrier that can go over your shoulder. If you have a larger dog, you need to consider the size of the carrier you are going to take.
If you are going to be traveling by car to your destination, it is super easy to pick out a carrier for your dog! You do not have to worry about having enough room to put the food and water dish in and you can even opt for a smaller carrier because you will be taking a lot of breaks.
Whenever you are traveling via a plane with your dogs carrier, there are a lot of things that you need to take into consideration. For example, the rule of the airline when it comes to pet traveling is something you need to look into. This information can easily be found online. If you are not internet savvy, calling the airline a head of time to find out the specifics of the rules is a great idea. You always want to make sure that you are complying with the law for dog traveling.
Whenever you are flying with your dog, you need to make sure that they are comfortable, as they will be in the lower part of the plane, away from you. Putting in a few blankets as well as maybe an article of your clothing is a great idea to make sure that your dog is comfortable. Also, you want to make sure that the plastic on your dog carrier is hard, that way there is not a lot of crashing around for the pooch.
These days, not many trains will allow dogs to travel at all, unless they are helper dogs for medical problems. Thus it will also benefit you to call ahead and find out if you can bring your dog on the train. If not, you are going to need to make other plans.
As you can tell, there are a lot of different things to consider whenever you are choosing dogs transport. Traveling with your pet can be difficult but a pet carrier is something that you should be comfortable with.

Training Your Dog
Time spent training your dog is time well spent. Many people have good intentions when they get a new puppy, and want to have a well-mannered companion that they can enjoy having in their home. Many dogs end up in the pound, due to lack of consistency on their owner’s part. When an owner is not consistent in training their dogs, they get frustrated and may give up on their pet.
Patience and consistency are necessary if you want a well-trained dog. If your dog is to be an indoor pet, you will need to begin house training immediately. This is best accomplished by setting up a routine of taking the dog or puppy outside as soon as it wakes up, within 15 minutes of eating, immediately after play time, and just before going to bed. When the puppy cannot be watched, it should be in a contained area–the best place being in a crate or carrier. If you do not have a carrier, then the dog should be contained in a small room such as a bathroom. Smaller dogs can be taught to eliminate on newspapers or in litter boxes by using the same methods.
Training your dog to wear a collar and walk on a leash is also important. Some dogs adjust quite easily to wearing a collar while others take a little more time. Putting the collar and leash on your dog and letting them drag it around can help them learn not to be afraid. The sooner this is done, the easier it is on your dog. After your dog has accepted the collar and leash, you can begin picking up the leash and encouraging your dog to follow you. Once your dog is walking on the leash comfortably, you can precede to teach it other commands, such as: sit, down, and stay. There are a lot of good dog training books out there to help you train your dog.
Remember, with a little time and patience now you can have a well-mannered, well-trained dog for life.

BRENTWOOD PUPPY TRAINING-PUPPY TRAINING BRENTWOOD
There are a lot of schools of thought when it comes to Brentwood dog training and Brentwood puppy training) . The different dog training methods range from strictly motivational to strictly compulsion based and a number of variations in between. One of the most misunderstood methods of training is the utilization of the E-COLLARS VS SHOCK COLLARS. Before we get into that lets talk a little bit more about the traditional types of training. Purely positive dog training in theory sounds great. You take the dog and their favorite treat, (milk bone, dehydrated liver, chopped up hot dogs etc.) ask the dog to sit, use the treat to bait the dog into position, and when the dog is in the proper position reward him with the treat.sounds great, but the problem is that around real world distractions assuming that you want to be able to have your dog listen when you take your dog for a walk, there are going to be variables. What I mean is this, lets speak in terms of currency, something that every person can understand. Take the dollar bill. If you have a $100.One dollar bill and a hundred dollar bill.one dollar bill and someone says choose one which bill are you taking? Sounds ridiculous to even ask that question, right? But that is the whole foundation for training purely motivational. The one upside is your dog will be well fed and happy, but you will have no control around distractions.
The other side of the coin is strictly compulsion based training. The theory behind this type of dog training is you give the dog a command, then give him a moment to comply, and if he does not then he is heavily corrected via choke chain, pinch collar, throw chain, or shock collar.Dogs have been trained this way for years, but the problem is you will crush the dogs’ spirit in the process. Now that we have a base and comparison lets talk about TR Systems and how it compares to using a shock collar.
Your traditional approach of shock collar training is compulsion based. This type of training has been used for field trial training for a long time as well as for police dogs. One type of shock collar training is identical to your pinch collar training. Give the dog a command give him a moment to comply and if he does not then the dog is given a very high level shock. The purpose of this high level correction in theory is that it will create a big enough deterrent that the dog would not dare disobey again. HOT SPOT TRAINING is the other type of shock collar training. Here’s how it works. Lets say that your dog is at a distance and you are teaching him a recall to heal position with a military finish. You would tell the dog heel and hold down the continuous button which distributes a constant high level shock until the dog happens to get into position to turn off the pain of the correction. The dog learns that the only way to stop the pain is to get to the safe spot associated with the verbal command which in turn is when the button is then let go and the pain stops. This type of training creates frantic erratic behavior in the dog because the level of anxiety is so high due to the fear of encountering that type of severe pain again. On top of all that 95% of dogs go one of two ways: they go into avoidance (they give up and shut down) or they lash out and try to nip and bite the handler and now you have a handler aggressive dog which usually winds up being euthanized due to the poor training. The other 5% have enough drive that they are able to tolerate the terrible training method and their pain tolerance is high enough that they do not shut down. PROPER E-COLLAR training is very different. There are a few people in the US that understand PROPER E-COLLAR TRAINING. TIM SMITH is among the best in the country that understands the system and how to teach it with clear understanding even with the most novice handlers and trainers. The first thing that you have to understand is that E-COLLAR TRAINING is neither a negative nor positive, it is strictly a neutral means of getting the dogs attention. What you want is for the dog to be ELECTRONICALLY LITERATE. The definition of the dog being ELECTRONICALLY LITERATE means that he understands the VERBAL, PHYSICAL and STIMULUS intertwined together.E-COLLAR basics: Lets say it was the first time we were teaching the dog to sit.You would have the electronic collar, regular collar and a leash. You would then proceed to tell the dog to sit and at the same time you should be guiding the dog into position and pressing the nick button at the same time. Once the dog starts to sit without the aid of you guiding him into position, then it is time to move on to the remote sit portion of the command. With the remote sit you will have a hold of the leash and then tell the dog break, which means he is free to be a dog and run and jump and play. Once he is at a distance you would tell him sit.The dogs first reaction will be to move towards you since he only knows sit in one facet of the command and that is sit at your side. Use the pulley method to keep him at a distance so that the dog can start to learn separation of angle. Once he is starting to sit remotely without the aid of the leash, you are going to sit him at a distance, walk away and turn and face the dog. Then recall the dog towards you and at the midpoint ask him to sit. Before progressing in the process the dog should have already demonstrated that he is ELECTRONICALLY LITERATE. There are a number of ways to know, but today we are only going to talk about one. You will see it when the dog starts to break position and you tell him to sit and he self corrects his position back to where he originally was which will be the key for every transition in the sit. The purpose of E-COLLAR training is so the dog can learn in the fastest period of time without compromising the dogs attitude. You should not be waiting for the dog to make a mistake and then fix it you should be looking for the subtle shift in weight before the dog breaks position so that he has success every time. The other big question is what is too high or low of a level and that answer is that there is no such thing. This is what I mean. The common denominator is that you should just be getting the dogs attention so putting it into perspective if you were sitting on the back porch listening to a baseball game and your wife wanted to get your attention she could tap you on the shoulder lightly. So my point is, you are going to adjust according to a given situation or distraction, but you should not be on a ten if the distraction is a seven and you should not be on a two if the distraction is a ten.It should be three to three or six to six.{ Hope this gives you some in-something to think about in the cutting edge world of e-collar training}. Obedience Training For Dogs: How To Have A Content Dog And A Stress-Free Owner
Is your dog’s bad behavior causing you stress? Don’t just put it with it. It’s time to begin some serious dog training. This means you need to be persistent and consistent with your training. However, make sure your training is always fun or your dog may get bored!
Understand Your Dog Basic Needs
Having a dog is a responsibility. If you don’t fulfill your dog’s basic needs, don’t be surprised if you have a badly behaved or neurotic dog. What are the basic needs? Here are the main ones:
- water and food
- regular daily exercise
- social interaction with dogs and people
- an environment which stimulates him.
The main point in dog training is to understand positive and negative reinforcement. When your dog does a behavior that is desired, you should reward him with a treat or affection. The treat or affection must come as soon after the behavior as humanly possible in order for it to be effective.
It’s best to concentrate on positive reinforcement for desired behaviors rather than negative reinforcement for behaviors you want to stop. This has been found to be a more productive way of training.
Physical punishment is not productive or humane way to train dogs and will only lead to your dog being neurotic and fearful. That’s not going to be a good relationship between man and dog. You can say a firm “No” in a growling tone of voice to stop him behaving badly. Perhaps most effective is to ignore your dog when he behaves badly. Dogs love attention and if you ignore him – that will be negative reinforcement in itself.
At all costs you should avoid humanizing your dog. Dogs have their own way of communicating which you will not understand unless you study it. You need to learn what their body language means: the position of the tail, the mouth positions, the ear position and the sounds they make.
Another important aspect of training is to position yourself as the pack leader. If your dog is pack leader, he is never going to be well-behaved for you because he thinks you are one of his pack. Some pointers to set yourself up as alpha dog:
-eat a biscuit or two in front of your dog just before you feed him. The pack leader always eats first.
-don’t let him to onto the sofa or bed. The alpha dog sleeps on higher ground.
-don’t allow him to go through the door before you.
